Mail Bag: Concerned Neighbor asks about Arrest Record Inconsistencies.

Name: Julie T.
Subject: Local Arrest
Message: I noticed that WBIW picks and chooses in which mugshots to write articles about. Do you have any information on an arrest last week of Robert (Bobby) Philpott in Bedford? He's seen running up and down Oolitic RD once in awhile and never seems to be in his right mind. I think it would be a good thing to have his face and nature of his arrest somewhere public so other people in the area can put a name with the face. He is a nuisance and several of my neighbors have seen him and are concerned for their safety/property.

Dear Julie T.,

Thank you for your submission to the LawCo News mailbag. We've looked into your inquiry regarding the recent arrest of Robert D Philpott in Bedford. Based on publicly available records, here's what we found:

On October 22, 2025, Robert D. Philpott, 43, was arrested by the Bedford Police Department at approximately 4:37 p.m. The charges include possession of methamphetamine, possession of a narcotic drug, public intoxication by drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  This arrest was documented in the Bedford police log for that date, which was published the following day.

Public records from prior bookings confirm that Philpott's listed address *********** in Bedford, Indiana, where he has been associated in previous incidents. He has a history of drug-related arrests in Lawrence County dating back several years, including similar charges for possession and paraphernalia.

Regarding your observation about WBIW's coverage: The station did include this arrest in their daily police log but did not feature a dedicated article or mugshot for it. Mugshots for arrests in Lawrence County are sometimes available through third-party sites that aggregate public booking data, such as Busted Newspaper, which has a record of this specific arrest. However, we did not find a publicly embedded mugshot in the primary news sources.

If you or your neighbors have ongoing concerns about safety or property, we recommend contacting the Bedford Police Department or Lawrence County Sheriff's Office directly to report any suspicious activity. They can provide guidance on community resources or protective measures.

We appreciate you reaching out and highlighting local issues. If you have more details or follow-up questions, feel free to submit again.

Best regards,
